Metallica Rocks
As promised, I am back here to write about my first Metallica Live experience.
And before I start, let me tell you this weekend has been a GREAT weekend after so many boring weekends in the past, with watching Metallica playing live on Saturday and then steelers winning a close Superbowl game on Sunday.
As I mentioned in my last post about my expectations from the concert, it seems after almost 4 years of wait, the show came up as one of their best on east coast in last 10 years. Though Prudential Center was not a huge arena the crowd was amazing and the excitement was so high that even when the opening act machinehead was playing, people in the pits were all going nuts. In my opinion, they took longer than they were supposed to, but I guess that made the crowd more restless to see the star crew running to the stage. I especially was getting eager and restless to see ‘em on stage as the clock ticked past 9.00 PM (considering I reached there at 7.30 PM).
In no time after 9.00 PM, all lights went out and stage lit up with high quality multi-coloured lasers with starting note of ‘That Was Just Your Life’, the first track from their latest album Death magnetic, in the background indicating that the time has now come.
I captured few minutes of kick-off excitement but could not upload the video on youtube. I will provide the link if I can.
As the concert progressed, one feels that all the disappointment from St. Anger is gone and the band is back with original Metallica soul and the music all Metallica virgins and veterans wanted to listen.
The Death Magnetic is the return of speed obsessed old thrash metal flavour of Metallica. The fact was evident in the line up where they played selective new songs from Death Magnetic blended with template-setting trilogy of mid-Eighties albums: Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning and, especially, And Justice for all.
The band played close to 2 hours and 30 minutes and left the audience wanting for more. It’s worth mentioning that apart from the apt display of on-stage fireworks, the arena had Death Magnetic themed coffin shaped boxes hanging from the roof which were used to hold some of the stage lights and it was indeed a splendid view to see these lowered and moved in pattern over the stage during the performance (See Below and See Album).

Coffin Lights
As the concert drew to its end, the house lights were on and the energy in the house was so evident with the pits going crazy especially with high level of interaction and response from Hetfield and Trujillo.
Overall, I believe I left elated and got more than what I expected out of it. I hope I get another chance to see them live soon while I am still in this country.
Leaving you with some clicks from the show. Enjoy.
Nick
